Dive Brief:
- Just a week after the site made photos and videos automatically appear in-stream, Twitter has created the @TwitterAdTips account to offer up advice directly to advertisers.
- Advertisers following the account will received personalized tips from Twitter to their direct message inbox.
- This move is keeping in line with other recent changes Twitter made to help advertisers and improve the DM function of the site.
Dive Insight:
It's good to see Twitter trying to find more uses for it's DM function rather than as an avenue for spam. It will be interesting to see just how valuable the "tips" from Twitter are for advertisers, but it can't hurt to have some insight from the platform itself. With the addition of in-stream photos and Vine videos, more advertisers will be looking at the micro-blogging platform.
Another recent change: In June, Twitter launched @MagicRecs, which sends a DM to users when a certain amount of their followers start following a particular account. This ideally helps marketers follow trends.
