Dive Brief:
- Google and Twitter announced a partnership Tuesday for tweets to automatically appear in users' mobile Google Search results.
- The tweets will be included in search results on both Android and iOS Google app, as well as on any browser on smartphones or tablets. (Desktop users will have to wait for the time being to see tweets in their searches.)
- The effort is meant to bring more real-time content to Google search after a failed Real-Time Search deal that also included tweets expired in 2011.
Dive Insight:
Considering much of the population finds news and timely items via Twitter, the integration of tweets into Google Search results should receive an eager welcome. The deal also gives tweets a new life off of the platform -- something Twitter has been working towards to drive new user growth. For marketers, the partnership could potentially mean getting sponsored tweets to also crop up on Google Search results.
