Dive summary:
- Sound-sharing app SoundCloud is announcing at SXSW the launch of Pro Partners, a new brand program that offers promoted pages for brands (similar to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr's models).
- Last week Facebook rolled out a new Music Feed feature that, as of yet, does not have ads, so brands wishing to be seen in the feed can promote their page through SoundCloud and be seen on Facebook as well through the Facebook Connect feature.
- With Pro Partners, brands receive a better-looking page and the ability to promote those pages; partners can also promote their pages in the Who to Follow section, which is similar to Twitter's Promoted Account product.
From the article:
"Last week, Facebook began adding a new Music feed where users can see what their friends are listening to on Spotify and learn about their favorite bands' upcoming concerts or album releases. Since Facebook isn't yet rolling out ads to the Music feed, non-musical brands are pretty much locked out—unless they have a way to sneak in through a SoundCloud account. Conceivably, if a brand posts sounds to SoundCloud that get shared to Facebook through Facebook Connect, that sound will show up in the Music feed."
