Dive Brief:
- OMD is taking over the media business of the nation's largest pet retailer, PetSmart.
- Last year, PetSmart spent $90 million on measured media.
- OMD will be replacing KSL Media, which filed for bankruptcy after Bacardi took its $130-million business to MindShare.
Dive Insight:
PetSmart is a huge win for OMD and there hopefully won't be a difficult transition from KSL's unusual departure. The addition of OMD should ease the burden on PetSmart's creative lead, Bernstein-Rein, which has been handling the media business since KSL's exit in late 2012. Freeing up creative and adding a media lead will allow PetSmart to focus its marketing efforts more precisely.
