Dive Brief:
- Iconic and long-serving advertising columnist Stuart Elliott is leaving his 23-year post at the NY Times.
- Elliott is joining some of his other long-time colleagues in the struggling newspaper's employee buyout.
- To ease its budget crisis, the Times is hoping to shed 100 employees through buyouts and, if needed, layoffs.
Still finding it hard to believe that @stuartenyt is leaving the @NewYorkTimes. Missing him already. #advertising

Among the most satisfying moments of my PR career thus far have been when clients were mentioned or covered by @stuartenyt - best of luck!

Dive Insight:
It's unfortunate that despite grabbing serious attention for its impressive native ads—which have resulted in a 16.5% jump in digital ad sales—the Grey Lady is still struggling. Elliott is a highly respected ad journalist and his presence will be missed at the Times.
