Dive Insight:
LinkedIn’s Pulse app has received a complete makeover in the form of a totally new app.
In a LinkedIn blog post, Pulse developer Akshay Kothari explained the reasoning behind the new app version, “Instead of slapping features on to the old reader app, we decided to completely redesign the new Pulse experience from the ground up. The new Pulse app focuses on delivering you personalized news -- news that is powered by your professional world.”
A key difference between the new and old versions of the app is a more user-friendly set up. Instead of having to choose topics or publishers to follow to get started, users now just have to log on with their LinkedIn identities and will immediately begin receiving personalized news based on their LinkedIn connections and the industry they work in. The old version of the app has been replaced by the new app in Android and Apple app stores, but will continue working through the end of the year.
Another new feature of the revamped Pulse is card-based interface designed to allow users to quickly skim through content, picking and choosing what they want to see, refining content recommendation with each choice.
