Dive Brief:
- A new tool from Hootsuite shows brands how much they are "loved" on social media.
- The "Love List" is a ranking of 450 brands based on "love" shown towards them on social media from consumers on a monthly basis.
- Rankings are calculated by three factors: number of brand mentions across 25 different platforms, a sentiment score based on positive versus negative mentions, and the percentage of social conversations containing the word "love" over a month long period. It also looks at press mentions from bigwigs like The New York Times and CNN.
Dive Insight:
The top five for this month in descending order are: Dove, Friskies, Kohl's, Avon, and Renaissance Hotels.
A ranking of social insights isn't that innovative on its own, but throwing the "love" word around is an interesting angle. Also, until recently, it was hard to tally results based on positive or negative conversations—a metric that can tell brands more than just "likes" can. Brands who fared well on the Love List can sleep easy and those that didn't -- now have an example to strive for.
