Dive Brief:
- More than a year after the feature was promised, Facebook has rolled out the ability to search for specific posts.
- Users will now be able to search for that post, like a status update, article link, photo share, etc., from friends on the site.
- The search results— fueled by Graph—will not pull up results from posters the searcher isn't "friends" with.
Dive Insight:
While marketers may be excited at the prospect of searching for posts on certain topics, this new feature will be limited in that regard. That doesn't mean marketers can use the tool to search through followers of a page that have public posts. White it's not comprehensive, the tool could certainly help marketers do some social conversation research. Regardless, social media marketers should be relieved they won't have to comb through everything to find a post from the newsfeed again.
