• Anonymous sources told The Information this week that Google is planning to become a mobile virtual network operator on the Sprint and T-Mobile networks. 
• The process is currently in beta and being called "Nova" internally. 
• Google would be able to test new services and gather data from mobile user. 

Dive Insight:

Google Wireless seems like another step in the search giant's world domination. Kidding aside, having direct access to mobile user data could be a gold mine for Google -- especially when paired with the other Big Data its already collecting through search. The existence of Google as another carrier would put pressure on the other mobile networks to innovate as well.
