Ogo launch enables Chinese IM

IXI Mobile Inc., the maker of the Ogo family of devices and services, has partnered with FarEasTone Co. Ltd. (FET) to launch Ogo handsets in the Taiwanese market.

FET is one of the top three carriers in Taiwan focusing mainly on the youth/young adult segment with more than 6 million subscribers.

The launch of Ogo introduces the Chinese language to IXI's instant messaging, SMS, RSS, voice, Web browsing and email offerings.

The interface and functionality of Ogo handsets are optimized for live communities and user-content-generated Web sites. It provides always-on ability with MSN live and ICQ.

Key features of the device include QVGA display, stereo speakers, keyboard, email, a multimedia player with removable microSD memory, an HTML-based browser RSS news channels and bluetooth 2.0.

In addition, Ogo offers limitless upgrades of hardware add-ons through OgoClips. This technology allows consumers to add cameras, MP3 players and Bluetooth handsets to any Ogo handset.

Ogo was launched by mobile operators and Internet service providers around the world.
