Kosher Cookbook is what's hot in App Store

Appsolute Media?s Kosher Cookbook application has only been simmering on the market for 30 days, yet has generated enough heat to secure a spot in the Apple App Store?s What?s Hot section.

The application, which is available for the iPhone and iPod touch, has been given a five-star rating from users. The Kosher Cookbook is designed for on-the-go users who are trying to keep their diet kosher.

?Kosher Cookbook has made it into the What?s Hot section because it has some of the most advanced functions of any iPhone cookbook,? said Alexander Libkind, CEO at Appsolute Media, Valley Stream, NY.

?The shopping lists and meal plans are deeply integrated as part of the app, not just thrown in as an add-on,? he said.

Appsolute Media is a publisher of applications targeting on-the-go users, helping them find recipes, happy hours and news.

The Kosher Cookbook application gives users access to hundreds of recipes, custom meal plans and the ability to create personalized shopping lists.

The application is now being sold in more than 10 countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Sweden.

Launched at the end of August, the application entered the mobile stage with the support of Brach's Supermarket, Pereg Spices and Skyview Wine & Spirits.

The Kosher Cookbook includes more than 300 recipes from food writer and well-known member of the New York City Jewish Community Gloria Kobrin, all within the guidelines of the kosher dietary rules. (see story)

The more-than 50 customized meal plans offer up ideas for Shabbat, Jewish holidays and special occasions.

?There is a lot that sets this application apart from other apps,? Mr. Libkind said. ?First it is kosher, which is different, but also the shopping and planning features are a key part of the app.?

Users can sort by course, cuisine and type of food.

Since the application?s features are integrated, users can choose recipes and add the needed ingredients to a one-click shopping list.

From there, users can view their shopping lists organized by store aisle or by recipe.

The Kosher Cookbook application is available for download in the Apple App Store for $4.99.

?There are a few updates users can look forward to,? Mr. Libkind said. ?We will implement an improved shopping list allowing users to add their own items beyond the recipes, more cookbooks and a store to purchase more cookbooks.

?We will also add integration with online shopping and major grocery vendors along with more non-Kosher cookbook apps for specific demographics,? he said.
