Mzinga to moderate Intercasting user-generated content
Intercasting has chosen Mzinga to help moderate user-generated content across 15 communities that are powered by its mobile social networking platform Anthem.
Intercasting powers mobile social networking through its Anthem platform, which connects mobile carriers with entertainment companies and consumer social networking sites. Using the company's Rabble application, consumers can create and share content on their phones and become a part of the rapidly growing Rabble community, which now reaches more than 250 million people nationwide.
"Mzinga is Providing Moderation services for all uploaded user generated content within Intercasting's Mobile application - applying and enforcing posting rules and policies that mobile service providers have created to ensure that any uploaded UGC is appropriate and falls within their guidelines," said Michael Pascucci, director of moderation services at Mzinga, Burlington, MA.
"Mobile providers and individual websites have their own policies," he said. "They are likely very similar in nature, with a lot of overlap. Mobile service providers and Web sites are trying to create a welcoming environment, free of offensive behavior and content.
Intercasting's platform also supports the ability for members to upload content through mobile devices to over 15 popular social networking sites.
Mzinga will moderate text, message posts and uploaded photos to ensure that interactions comply with the company's established guidelines.
As businesses continue adopting new ways to engage and interact with their target audiences online, moderation is becoming increasingly critical to ensuring a safe, welcoming user experience and reducing related privacy and brand liability risks.

"All companies should be concerned with any uploaded user generated content, developing and creating policies so that they can remove content that falls outside of their guidelines and policies," Mr. Pascucci said. "Companies should be concerned about protecting their brand and image online and via Mobile applications, and this can be addressed by removing content that can be offensive in nature.
"This also needs to be addressed in a timely fashion, to minimize the effect that can be recognized when offensive content is posted," he said.
