Vendor to serve mobile videos in Home Depot stores
A mobile video effort for Safety Quick Light LLC’s lighting product goes live by June 3 in 100 Home Depot store locations in Florida.
Mobile consumers in Home Depot will be able to get an informational video on Safety Quick’s Fast Attach connection device for easing the process of installing and changing light fixtures and ceiling fans. Avot Media powers the mobile video.
“The objective is to increase the value proposition at the point-of-sale and do more than just in-store advertising and collateral,” said Dave Sloan, director of product marketing at Avot, Sunnyvale, CA.
“It’s really to embrace that POS experience and offer access to valuable content that educates [shoppers] on the product they’re considering,” he said.
Home Depot shoppers in Central and South Florida will be able to enter an SMS code displayed on in-store Fast Attach product signage and get a link.
Clicking on that link activates the streaming of a short informational video demonstrating the use of the Safety Quick connection system.
The video is targeted to both homeowners and building contractors -- Home Depot’s core audience.
The video explains how to safely and quickly install and remove ceiling fans and lighting fixtures.
Using Safety Quick’s system eliminates the need for complicated wiring and installations for ceiling fans and hardwired lighting fixtures.
The Roswell, GA-based company claims new lighting fixtures or fans with the Safety Quick connection device pre-installed lets homeowners plug in the fixture or fan just as easily they would plug in a table lamp.
With the Avot-powered mobile video, “I feel educated on how this product works and it makes me a more informed customer,” Mr. Sloan said.
Avot’s technology uses SMS and video streaming technology to offer videos in real-time that are tailored to various mobile device platforms.
The company’s Avot mV offering lets users play Web video on any Web-enabled mobile phone in almost real-time. AdVideo is another video-based advertising service that delivers streaming video ads to mobile phones.
Avot’s goal is to make the mobile video content and advertising experience smooth, Mr. Sloan said.
“Today mobile video is considered difficult and images break up,” he said. “We’re smoothing over these barriers to adoption.”
