Fox Mobile expands mobile TV content in Asia, Africa

Fox Mobile Distribution is letting millions of mobile subscribers across Asia, the Middle East and Africa access video content from hit U.S. shows such as "24," "The Simpsons" and "Prison Break."

A leading mobile entertainment distributor, Fox Mobile Distribution tapped Northern Ireland's SLA Mobile to provide multi-media technology platforms. Fox Mobile Distribution's Jamster service in Indonesia will be the first to integrate technology from SLA, with countries throughout Southeast Asia to follow.

"Fox Mobile Distribution is always looking for opportunities to enable more mobile users across the globe to easily access the most compelling and relevant mobile entertainment content," said Kaj Hagros, Berlin, Germany-based chief operating officer of Fox Mobile.

"Using SLA's technology to open our content platforms through open APIs, we'll be able to more rapidly integrate with operator portals and partner properties, which will help us expand our outreach," he said.

Additionally, opportunities exist for SLA's technology platforms to be leveraged by Fox Mobile Distribution as it rolls out its Jamba and Jamster services to new regions.

The target demographic for the Jamba/Jamster brands is 16-to-34-year-old males and females.

Fox Mobile Distribution works with a large number of carriers, original equipment manufacturers and content partners around the world.

Moreover, it has billing agreements with more than 125 wireless carriers, multi-faceted deals with OEMs such as Nokia and licensing agreements with 1,000-plus worldwide content providers.

The company uses many channels to market its content and services, including the Web, WAP, OEMs, carriers, retail, print and television.

Through the agreement with Fox Mobile Distribution, SLA Mobile will design, build and operate specially-designed platforms to enable fans of popular programs such as ?The Simpsons' to download content including ringtones, wallpapers and screensavers.

The agreement will also allow Fox Mobile Distribution to put more targeted mobile advertising across a range of sites.

Fox Mobile Distribution, a division of Fox Mobile Group, offers branded content from around the world, ringtones from top music labels, mobile games and other original content made exclusively for mobile phones.

Headquartered in Berlin, Germany and Beverly Hills, CA, Fox Mobile Group comprises three distinct operating units: Fox Mobile Distribution, Fox Mobile Entertainment and Fox Mobile Studios. It is wholly owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.

SLA Mobile recently opened an office in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, increasing its reach in the Asia-Pacific region.

SLA Mobile is an international business providing platforms, integrated software products and managed services that allow carriers to secure positions in the mobile advertising and media content delivery markets. It is focused on high-volume customers such as carrier Vodafone.

"We've been working with Fox for about 12 months on the framework taking advantage of their strength as one of the leading media company in the world," said Nic Stirk, CEO of SLA Mobile, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

"The agreement is all about providing a strategic partnership working with Fox to enable them to access new markets in the Far East and Eastern Hemisphere leveraging SLA's expertise in that region," he said.

"We'll enable a quicker time to market for Fox Mobile and provide value-added services and content. People demand fresher, newer, more exciting content all the time, and this helps Fox reduce costs.

"We provide the infrastructure and we have extensive expertise in multiple countries in that region deploying multi-country campaigns in multicultural environments."
