Macy's Martine Reardon inducted into Mobile Hall of Fame
Martine Reardon, chief marketing officer of department store chain Macy?s, has entered the Mobile Hall of Fame for outstanding leadership in evangelizing mobile within the retail industry and at forums nationwide.
Ms. Reardon has been a champion for best practice in mobile as part of the multichannel mix, weaving mobile across all Macy?s marketing and retail channels, while finding time to raise the bar for mobile marketing across retail and non-retail sectors.
?Under Martine?s watch, Macy?s embrace of mobile has been complete,? said Mickey Alam Khan, editor in chief of Mobile Marketer and Mobile Commerce Daily, New York. ?Her leadership and a team with matching skills has resulted in mobile gaining a prime spot on the table, becoming part of the marketing and retail fabric of the Macy?s experience.
?A key hallmark of Martine?s leadership is her willingness to share knowledge and best practice of what?s working in marketing and what?s not,? he said.
?She finds time in her schedule to place mobile at the heart of Macy?s marketing, encouraging her peers to emulate the department store chain?s stance of talking to consumers in the language and via the tools and channels with which they are comfortable. Without doubt, she is a role-model marketer, entirely deserving of her entry into the Mobile Hall of Fame.?
Ms. Reardon is opening keynote at today?s Mcommerce Summit: State of Mobile Commerce 2015.
The Mobile Hall of Fame is the highest honor in mobile, bestowed by Mobile Marketer, the world?s leading publication covering mobile advertising, marketing and media.
Tom Daly, global group director for mobile at Coca-Cola Co., was inducted in the Mobile Hall of Fame in January at the Mobile FirstLook conference in New York. Late Apple founder/CEO Steve Jobs was the 2011 inductee in March of that year for moving consumers and markets into the post-PC world.
Prize efforts
Among Ms. Reardon?s key achievements in mobile are mobile features such as Price Checker, Scan & Send and image search. A recent Black Friday Million Dollar Give-Away resulted in more than 300,000 unique customers scanning QR codes in-store on Black Friday for a chance to win $1 million in Macy?s gift codes while playing with SpongeBob Squarepants.
Another recent initiative for which she takes pride is Fashion Rocks, which was a Macy?s integration with Shazam to let customers shop in real time on a mobile-optimized Macys.com site.
Morever, Ms. Reardon has spearheaded mobile calls to action in Macy?s television commercials nationwide, which itself is worth tens of millions of dollars in equivalent media buys. Add to that the social element and Macy?s has one of the most sophisticated mobile marketing and commerce programs nationwide.
Not surprisingly, Macy?s has been named Mobile Marketer of the Year in the past by this publication.
At Macy?s, Ms. Reardon leads marketing, including advertising, creative development, social, mobile and digital media, brand public relations, cause and tourism marketing, special events, media planning, consumer insights and data analysis for its 800 stores nationwide.
In addition, she runs Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with overseeing fashion shows, fireworks displays and flower shows nationwide.
Under Ms. Reardon?s direction, Macy?s national marketing team has received numerous honors, including Emmy?s, Reggie?s, Clio?s, Effie?s, Racie?s and Art Directors Club Awards.
Winning ways
An experienced retail marketer, Ms. Reardon rose through the ranks at Federated Department Stores and Macy's Inc., beginning in the special events department at Abraham and Strauss, and becoming CMO in 2012 after serving most recently as Macy's executive vice president of marketing and advertising.
Under her leadership, Macy's has received many significant retail industry accolades for marketing, including Mobile Marketer of the Year, Direct Marketer of the Year, Brandweek Marketer of the Year and the L2 Genius Award for digital relevance in retail marketing several years running.
A member of Macy's Executive Committee, Ms. Reardon sits on the board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as the Retail Advertising Marketing Association, a division of the National Retail Federation.
The executive has chaired the American Heart Association's annual Go Red for Women New York City luncheon since 2006, is a member of the International Women?s Forum, and participates in many industry events and conferences as keynote speaker.
In another nod to her leadership, Macy?s cause marketing and related initiatives have earned top honors from the Cause Marketing Forum?s Halo Awards, the Trevor Project, the Drama League, PR News Awards and PRSA.
Most recently, Ms. Reardon was named a Changing the Game Winner by Advertising Women of New York, and the honoree at its 2015 Annual Roast, as well as the recipient of the 2014 CMO Award for Leadership, presented by New York?s prestigious CMO Club.
Forbes also recognized her as one of the ?50 Most Influential CMOs in the World.?
?With all these accomplishments to her credit, Martine can now add one more, the Mobile Hall of Fame, cementing her place in the pantheon of great marketers in retail,? Mobile Marketer?s Mr. Alam Khan said.
