Mobile subscribers prefer family in unlimited calling network: Verizon
According to Verizon Wireless, 78 percent of mobile phone customers would most prefer to have family members in their unlimited wireless calling network, while only 2 percent of mobile customers would most want to include their bosses or co-workers.
The telephone survey polled more than 750 consumers ages 18 and over who have a mobile phone. Of the 78 percent of mobile phone customers who chose to add their family, 44 percent of the respondents would most want their spouse or significant other in their unlimited calling network.
"When asked whether they would be more likely to add wireless or landline numbers to an unlimited calling network, 65 percent of survey respondents would be more likely to add wireless numbers, while 31 percent would be more likely to add landline numbers," said Brenda B. Raney, executive director of corporate communications at Verizon Wireless, Basking Ridge, NJ.
"This is interesting because we think it shows the penetration of wireless in that when given a choice, people are connecting to other wireless customers versus landline users," she said.
More males than females - 51 percent versus 37 percent - would be likely to include their spouse or significant other in their unlimited calling plan. Those who said they would most want their parents in their unlimited calling plan were more likely females.
With Friends & Family, Verizon Wireless customers with Nationwide Single Line plans with 900 Anytime Minutes or more may add up to five landline or mobile numbers regardless of the service provider.
Customers on a Nationwide Family SharePlan with 1,400 Anytime Minutes or more may add up to 10 numbers to their Friends & Family calling directory.
There are no additional fees to make changes to a Friends & Family calling directory. Customers can go online to make changes at any time.
The Verizon Wireless survey was conducted by KRC Research March 19-23.
The survey polled a nationally representative sample of 769 adults, ages 18 and over who have a wireless phone.
Conducted via telephone, the survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
