Cellyspace offers mobile greeting cards for holidays

Keeping in mind the holidays, Skycore LLC's Cellyspace Web-based multimedia messaging service (MMS) will let consumers create multimedia greeting cards from their computers and send them to family and friends' mobile phones.

Called the "MMS Composer," this mobile greeting card creator allows users to upload pictures and audio files from their computer, edit them into a slideshow and then send them for immediate or scheduled delivery.

There are no fees for holiday customers to create or store MMS messages with Cellyspace. There is only a 20-cent charge to send the messages -- far less than the cost of purchasing and mailing a standard greeting card, as the company points out.

The messages arrive in the recipient's inbox without requiring special software downloads -- perfect for grandparents who are not mobile-savvy but would like to receive multimedia on their handset.

The service is compatible with major US wireless carriers and most MMS-enabled phones on those networks.

MMS Composer is a new addition to Cellyspace's existing services designed to facilitate user- and advertiser-generated content in the form of text, ringtones and video.

Among the Cellyspace tools is a broadcast messaging solution that lets subscribers opt-in to get MMS and SMS blasts sent to them daily, weekly or monthly.

Following the huge popularity of text-messaging communication, especially for tweens and young adults, MMS messaging -- the next level of mobile messaging technology -- has faced adoption challenges due to lack of interoperability. (Read more here)

The complexity of creating and then converting content across a wide variety of handsets has resulted in a relatively slower adoption rate of MMS in comparison to SMS.

Cellyspace aims to solve this problem. Its MMS technology offers a solution to marketers and consumers by providing an online toolset that enables consumers and advertisers to compose and distribute customized MMS messages to mobile phones from their computers.

By enabling a do-it-yourself business model, Cellyspace also addresses the challenge of personalization.
