CBS Mobile launches Entertainment Tonight iPhone app

CBS Mobile and Entertainment Tonight have launched a free application, bringing the latest entertainment news headlines to iPhone and iPod touch users.

Through these new mobile offerings, the No. 1 entertainment news magazine show will provide readers with the latest breaking news stories, exclusive interviews, videos and photo galleries.

"The strategy here is to offer Entertainment Tonight's audience and all entertainment news fans, an easy, high-quality way to keep up with the breaking news and latest headlines they care about, no matter when or where," said Jeff Sellinger, executive vice president and general manager of CBS Mobile, New York.

CBS Television Distribution's Entertainment Tonight application features real-time updates from ETOnline.com to provide fans with the most updated celebrity news on-the-go.

The application's navigation bar enables users to easily browse through celebrity coverage by tabbed sections including ET News, Videos, Pictures and Most Viewed stories.

"This application will make it easy for ET fans and viewers to keep up with all of the celebrity news," Mr. Sellinger said.

The application's social media features include the option to share stories and videos, save to "favorite" and rate news articles.

While browsing the photo section, fans can utilize the "swipe" navigation feature for a full-screen view of their favorite celebrities.

The video experience supports picture-in-picture browsing during video playback as well automatic "playlisting" of multiple clips for uninterrupted viewing.

Additionally, the in-video navigation option makes it easy to quickly change channels between video categories including movies, fashion, celebrities, music and television.

CBS Mobile has developed the application in conjunction with Rhythm New Media.

In addition to the launch of the Entertainment Tonight application, CBS Mobile is launching Entertainment Tonight Mobile Picture Alerts available across all major carriers.

The mobile MMS alerts service is available for subscription on the homepage at ETOnline.com.

"Entertainment news is quick, bite-sized pieces of information that appeals to a wide demographic," Mr. Sellinger said. "Entertainment news is always interesting - many people find it is easily addictive and a great time killer.

"Moreover, like any news genre, entertainment news is always current and relevant - mobile is the perfect way to consume 24/7 breaking news," he said. "The adoption of apps and data on the iPhone is significantly higher than on other devices.

"In addition, the iPhone offers the ability to experience stunning visuals - pictures and videos - making the iPhone a natural for this type of content."
