Cartoon Network to deliver mobile games, screensavers

Smashing Ideas and Cartoon Network have partnered for the development and distribution of multiple Cartoon Network mobile games, animated screensavers and wallpapers.

The agreement with Cartoon Network is a boost in Smashing Idea's efforts to provide engaging mobile experiences to consumers, the company said.

Per the deal, Smashing Ideas will distribute jointly-created Cartoon Network content across North America through carriers supporting Flash Lite content.

Flash Lite is a runtime engine for mobile and consumer electronics devices that benefits both device manufacturers and content.

By enabling manufacturers to provide customers with improved Web browsing, video content, and compelling interactive experiences, Flash Lite delivers an effective means of differentiating products.

Additionally, Flash Lite allows developers to create mobile applications, speed time to market and increase customer adoption, the company claimed.

The first deployment is a games channel consisting of two games on Smashing Idea's BREW application, "Smashing Games."

As the largest independent developer of Adobe Flash-based digital media in the United States, Smashing Ideas has been one of the leaders in creating rich media and Flash-based entertainment.

Games available at launch will include Flight of the Hamsters, based on the Codename: Kids Next Door's cartoon, and Mac's Match-Up, based on the popular Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends' cartoon.

The companies plan to jointly roll out more games next year based on other popular Cartoon Network properties, including Ben 10.
