Go2 launches mobile site for NBA Playoffs
Go2 Media has debuted a mobile Web site dedicated to providing basketball fans up-to-date information on the NBA Playoffs.
The mobile Web site offers users game and telecast schedules, up-to-the-minute scores of the entire 2008 NBA playoffs and links to buy tickets to the games.
"Go2 Media is a publisher of content specifically designed for the mobile Web user, to be consumed on his or her phone while on-the-go," said Rob Adler, CEO of go2 Media. "Developing focused microsites, like this site for NBA Playoffs and others we've done, helps users quickly get access to rich mobile content and also helps carriers promote specific and value-added uses of the mobile Web to their subscribers."
The go2 NBA Playoffs site is accessible through the main menu of go2 (wap.go2.com) or by visiting NBA.go2.com directly on a mobile phone.
Visitors to the go2 NBA Playoffs mobile site will find content generated by go2 correspondents, including game previews and top stories of the week. Correspondents and site producers will also be sending SMS alerts embedded with a link back to the NBA site.
"The vast majority of publishers have yet to focus on the mobile user and therefore there is a significant lack of quality information providers on the mobile Web, particularly when compared to the wired Web," Mr. Adler said.
"And while there are legitimate limitations imposed by mobile in terms of network bandwidth and smaller screen sizes, it is still not only possible but imminently doable to provide a mobile consumer an excellent information experience," he said.
Since 2001, go2 Media has delivered more than 1 billion WAP page views of local content to mobile phone users across U.S. carriers. It is currently ranked by Nielsen Mobile as one of the top 20 mobile sites in the U.S.
"If you want the score of a game and you are not near a browser, what options do you have?" Mr. Adler said. "Mobile! Whether it is via SMS alerts or browsing to the mobile WAP site, go2's solution puts time-sensitive information in the palms of mobile consumers."
