Kodak Gallery debuts iPad app designed for photo sharing
Kodak Gallery has introduced an iPad application designed to help users upload, browse and share photos directly to the tablet.
Users can upload photos from their Kodak Gallery Photo Service. The application is available for free in Apple?s App Store.
?We want to make it convenient and simple for Kodak Gallery members to upload, browse and share their photos wherever they are and on whatever devices they?re using,? said Trent Gruenwald, product marketing manager at Kodak Gallery, San Francisco.
?The iPad is becoming one of the most popular mobile devices and it is already one of the top traffic sources to KodakGallery.com, so it was a no brainer that we?d extend the KG iPhone app to the iPad,? he said. ?In addition to its popularity, the iPad is a fantastic device for viewing photos."
Kodak Gallery lets users organize, edit and print photos online.
Say cheese
Users who do not have an account with Kodak can sign up to upload photos on their iPad.
The application leverages the features of the iPad. For example, using the accelerometer users can rotate landscape and portrait photos to see them in-full.
Users can upload albums
There is also a Slideshow Mode feature that shows all the photos in an album and automatically uses transitions to create an image experience.
?Our target demographic is primarily women ages 25-54 who are responsible for managing their family?s photo memories,? Mr. Gruenwald said. ?However, we also target men and women of all ages who take photos of their passions ? travel, sports, family, special occasions and college.
?While the iPad skews more male, a significant proportion of our female target demographic use the device,? he said.

Mobile photos
Kodak is getting the word out about the application by communicating with Kodak Gallery members via standard channels such as email, social media and KodakGallery.com.
?Kodak Gallery is working to extend our photo sharing capabilities to mobile devices,? Mr. Gruenwald said. ?In addition to the iPad app we also have an app for the iPhone and a photo-sharing slideshow that?s optimized for viewing on mobile devices.
?Going forward we?ll continue to make the photo sharing experience better and more integrated no matter what mobile device the consumer uses,? he said.
