Univision partners with Viva Vision for mobile entertainment
Univision Online Inc. has partnered with Viva Vision to deliver mobile entertainment content for U.S. consumers.
Viva Vision has created an entertainment slide show application that displays popular images from Univision's content library. The platform enables subscribers to pause, rewind, fast-forward and save favorite images from the slideshow. By voting on their favorite images, the subscriber community controls which content is featured.
"Univision and other media companies are looking at what is the best way to monetize," said Nick Montes, CEO of Viva Vision, Santa Monica, CA.
"The reason Univision approached us is they saw we were having success with the slide shows and other brands," he said. "Univision has been at the forefront of mobile, and done a great job monetizing content. They are very progressive in that way and when they heard about our technology they came to us."
Univision Movil is home to Spanish-language mobile content such as in-show wireless integrations, mobile video, WAP portals, PSMS programs and other downloadable offerings.
Viva Vision is a leading content provider for mobile entertainment.
The Univision Movil slideshow product is available on Verizon Wireless, Alltel Wireless, Metro PCS, Claro Puerto Rico and Centennial Puerto Rico.
Additional carriers will be announced soon.
"What I see happening here is an interesting trend where the revenue is coming from," Mr. Montes said. "You already have established categories of content monetization -- the entertainment slide show piece kind of fits between ringtones and video -- [so] we have redefined a new product category.
"Next week we're going to put out a press release about our growth," he said. "Our growth is in large part because we're able to adapt our technology to figure out ways to monetize in today's environment."
