MTV launches four iPad applications to better connect with consumers

MTV Networks has debuted four new applications for Apple?s iPad ? three of which are exclusive to the recently released device.

The applications are from MTV, Nickelodeon and VH1 Classic. The company claims that the iPad gives it limitless opportunities to connect with its consumers of all ages wherever they are.

We want to be everywhere our audiences are, making our content available whenever and wherever they spend time,? said Greg Clayman, executive vice president of digital distribution and business development at MTV Networks, New York.

?We want our fans to be able to take our content with them, and we've had a lot of success with the iPhone apps we already offer,? he said.

The applications include MTV?s ?Beavis and Butt-head,? Nickelodeon?s ?Dora the Explorer Coloring Adventures,? and ?Daily Jigsaw? and ?VH1 Classic Presents: Intellivison for iPad.?

The Beavis and Butt-Head game, which costs $4.99, features the characters Beavis and Butt-Head and consumers can play mini-games, watch video clips from the original MTV series, and share sound clips with friends.

Nickelodeon is distributing the Dora the Explorer game application ? also $4.99 ? where users can go on adventures with a combination sticker and coloring book application designed specifically for the iPad.

Consumers can choose a picture, add stickers and touch the screen to apply lots of colors ? there are dozens of Dora-themed stickers and several backgrounds that consumers can choose from.

?MTVN brands serve a wide audience, and these new iPad apps appeal to some of our core demos: the Beavis & Butthead app is targeted towards the MTV audience of teens and young adults, as well as older adults that were fans when the show was on-air,? Mr. Clayman said.

?The Dora and Daily Jigsaw apps are targeted towards kids, as online gaming is a huge draw for them, and VH1 Classic's Intellivision app is targeted towards older consumers who appreciate the revival of these classic video games,? he said.

Additionally, the network, along with gaming Web site Shockwave, is distributing a Daily Jigsaw where players can download a new high-resolution puzzle everyday that features photos and facts submitted from the Shockwave jigsaw community.

VH1 Classic has a VH1 Classic Presents: Intellivision for iPad application, which features several old video games including Astrosmash, Night Stalker and Thunder Castle.

?The iPad is an amazing device,? Mr. Clayman said. ?We're very excited about its launch and eager to give our audiences a brand new way to experience and interact with their favorite shows, characters and games.?
