Allrecipes upgrades app to meet customer demand
After listening to customer feedback, Allrecipes.com has upgraded its food application to include the company?s full recipe database.
The Dinner Spinner Pro application lets users access the complete Allrecipes library, add recipes directly to their personal recipe boxes and create interactive shopping lists.
?We took all of the feedback that we received from our community regarding the original Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner and also researched what people were asking for from other food apps to create the ultimate mobile tool for home cooks with Dinner Spinner Pro,? said Stephanie Robinett, the director of communications at Allrecipes.com, Seattle.
?We knew we were going the right direction with Dinner Spinner because it was already the No. 1 food app, but we wanted to give users the things they were asking for the most so we made Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner Pro,? she said.
Allrecipes is a Web site where home cooks share food ideas through user-generated recipes, reviews, photos, profiles, blogs and meal ideas.
Dinner time
With the Dinner Spinner Pro, consumers can share information with other Dinner Spinner Pro members using email or Bluetooth technology.
?The great thing about our demographic is that everyone eats so it?s very broad,? Ms. Robinett said. ?The application is made to be easy and fun for anyone. It was our goal to have something for everyone with this app.?
Additionally the new application has a shopping list feature that collects the ingredients from recipes and lets consumers virtually check off items while they shop.
Here is a screen grab of the application:
A user can get step-by-step recipe directions when using the cook mode view and holding their mobile phone horizontally.
Using the application, consumers can scale a recipe?s ingredients and shopping lists then save and share them with fellow iPhone users.
Food for thought
Additionally the application includes features that cater to the health conscious, including an advanced search which has filters such as low fat, low cholesterol and low sodium. Users who are on a budget can also find a meal that will fit their lifestyle.
Consumers who only have a small selection of ingredients in their household can type them into the application and find a recipe automatically.
Although the application is currently only available for the iPhone and iPod Touch (for $2.99), Allrecipes is looking to expand the application to other platforms.
?We are really focused on providing solutions that our customers want,? said Ms. Robinett.
?We are definitely watching these platforms and keeping a finger on the pulse of our community to make sure we are providing them with the right tools to be successful in the kitchen.?
