Boost Mobile, Motorola sponsor Danica Patrick?s Andretti Green Racing IndyCar
Boost Mobile, the prepaid division of Sprint Nextel, and Motorola Inc. have unveiled the new paint scheme for Danica Patrick's No. 7 car as part of their new sponsorship.
To coincide with the announcement of the Boost Mobile and Motorola sponsorships, Ms. Patrick showed off the new IndyCar design by driving it down the tarmac at the Indianapolis International Airport. For the remainder of the 2009 IndyCar Series season, Patrick will sport a black Boost Mobile/Motorola/Andretti Green IndyCar with orange accents.
"The strategy behind the sponsorship of Danica Patrick was to bring the power of both brands together, in order to continue to drive awareness of the $50 Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited plan and the upcoming launch of the Motorola Clutch phone," said Caralene Robinson, Irvine, CA-based director of marketing services for Boost Mobile.
"The successful launch of Monthly Unlimited exposed Boost Mobile to an entirely new audience, including value-seeking consumers," she said. "This partnership will allow Boost Mobile to continue to do so by leveraging the popularity of one of the world's most well-known athletes.
"Our offer is rooted in the premise of value, which is critical during these tough economic times -- consumers see that value and, as a result, we have been quite successful."
Andretti Green Racing is owned and operated by partners Michael Andretti, Kim Green and Kevin Savoree.
Andretti Green Racing, which stands as the winningest team in Indy Racing League history, fields a series-high four full-time entries in the IndyCar Series and two Firestone Indy Lights cars.

Boost-branded mobile phones are available nationwide at nearly 20,000 major retail stores including Best Buy, Radio Shack, Target, Wal-Mart, Sprint retail stores and independent wireless dealer locations.
Motorola had sales of $30.1 billion last year.
Since 2007, Motorola has served as title sponsor of Ms. Patrick's IndyCar and provider of two-way communication solutions for all four Andretti Green teams.
Motorola has been involved in open-wheel racing for more than a decade and with Andretti Green Racing for the past six seasons.
Motorola will continue to provide communication services to Andretti Green as well as promote its brand and products through the sport.
Coupled with the Boost Mobile $50 Monthly Unlimited mobile phone plan, the Motorola Clutch i465 combines Push-to-Talk capability and a QWERTY keyboard. The Motorola Clutch will be available from Boost Mobile in Q2 2009.
