Verizon to broadcast Latin Grammys via V Cast

Verizon subscribers will have mobile access to the 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, taking place Nov. 13 at the Toyota Center in Houston.

In addition to sponsoring the event, Verizon is providing exclusive, live streaming video on V CAST Video of the "green" carpet activities and backstage footage, including interviews and reactions from performers and winners.

"Our efforts with the Latin Grammy coverage is another way we are bringing specific, exclusive content to V CAST customers," said Debra Lewis, spokeswoman for Verizon Wireless, Basking Ridge, NJ. "We've had a Latin channel on V CAST for a while, and we've had Latin Grammy content there leading up to the actual event."

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT (5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT) on Thurs., customers can see and hear Latin singing stars as they walk the "green" carpet before the show and hang out backstage.

Later, more video of the after parties following the show will be available.

The show itself is being broadcast on Univision, but with V CAST, customers can get the inside look at what's happening.

Verizon Wireless's V Cast subscribers were able to stay informed and in touch with live election coverage using their mobile phone (see story).

Defying the shaky economic climate, Verizon Communications Inc.'s wireless division helped to increase the carrier's third-quarter profits (see story).

The Federal Communications Commission has approved Verizon Wireless' proposed acquisition of Alltel Corp. because the deal can benefit consumers (see story).

Clips from the Latin Grammys are free, with a subscription to V CAST/V PAK.

In addition, the Latin category in V CAST Music lets consumers search for some of the nominated music and lots of other songs.

The list of nominees for the Latin Grammy Awards is available at http://www.grammy.com/latin/9_latin.

"We're always looking for ways to provide our customers with content and programming they want to watch and the Latin Grammys are no exception," Ms. Lewis said.
