Dive Brief:
- WPP has promoted Tamara Ingram -- chief of WPP's Team P&G group -- to the post of chief client officer.
- Ingram will be overseeing all of WPP's global accounts as one of the most high-level female executives in advertising.
- WPP promoated another female to a new leadership position with its promotion for Debby Reiner from EVP, partner and global beauty director for P&G to president of Grey/Global P&G.
Dive Insight:
WPP CEO Martin Sorrell wrote of Ingram in an internal memo, "There are few people who understand the requirements of global client management better than Tamara."
Agency revenue from P&G increased 50% in the past five years, according to Grey. Further, Ingram and Reiner helped Grey add P&G's shaving brands: this month adding creative responsibilities for Venus, Braun and The Art of Shaving; and Gillette's global creative business for its men's products two years ago.
The ad industry has a well-known gender gap problem so each woman appointed to a position of leadership makes it a little bit easier for the women in the industry coming up behind them.
