Dive Insight:
Domain registry service GoDaddy is looking to streamline the process of building an online presence for small business owners with the introduction of its AI-powered Airo tool. After being provided a brief business description, Airo can generate a domain name and additional content, including logo designs, a fully built website and a professional email account, per release details. Additionally, by uploading a product photo, Airo can automatically generate a custom product description.
Supporting Airo’s launch is the “Power Your Future” campaign, which is meant to showcase all that can be achieved by business owners through the power of AI. Key to the effort are TV ads that show business owners leveraging the tech. In one spot, a person is seen using the tool to support her budding business from inception to launch, relying on her ideas to generate core assets like a logo and product description. Another spot, “Haute Dawg,” sees two women use Airo to bring new life to their hot dog stand, showcasing how the AI tool can generate a website, logo or social posts. Additional 15-second spots continue to break down the new tool’s potential.
The “Power Your Future” campaign also includes a social media element that leverages real GoDaddy customers discussing their business journeys. Additionally, the company will use 15- and 30-second teasers on Instagram and Facebook around Leap Day, with the idea for the strategy being that, since 2024 is a Leap Year, people get an extra 24 hours that they could use to launch a business online, per release details.
GoDaddy’s Airo tool can also offer additional support for new or existing businesses, including comprehensive email campaigns with suggested content and imagery, a social media calendar and social media and search engine ads. If a business isn’t online, business owners will soon be able to leverage beta capabilities of Airo to generate an entire product or service catalog for their point-of-sale device or to generate real-time insights on their sales trends by using voice commands on the GoDaddy Smart Terminal Point-of-Sale device, per release details.
Airo is the latest example of how companies are leveraging AI for internal operations. The tool could see success for its focus around accessibility, unlocking streamlining capabilities that are often reserved for larger corporations. About a quarter of small businesses owners (26%) currently use AI, per data cited in the press release, though it is predicted that users can save $4,000 and 300 hours of work this year using generative AI.
GoDaddy joins a growing list of companies looking to win over marketers with AI as the buzzy tech continues to hold strong in the advertising hype cycle, with nearly nine out of 10 marketers (87%) having used or experimented with AI tools for at least one application, per a benchmark survey by The Conference Board in collaboration with Ragan Communications. Others who are upping their AI bets include holding companies like Dentsu and Publicis Groupe and brands like Coca-Cola and Burger King.
